PROPULSION_GEOMETRY

The propeller is the "transmission" of the drone. The Pitch is the theoretical distance a propeller would move forward in one single rotation.

PERFORMANCE PROFILES

LOW PITCH (Short Gears)

  • Example: 5x3x3 (5" diameter, 3" pitch).
  • Feel: High acceleration, great "grip" in turns, high low-end torque.
  • Best For: Heavy lift drones and indoor proximity flying.

HIGH PITCH (Tall Gears)

  • Example: 5x5x3 (5" diameter, 5" pitch).
  • Feel: High top-end speed, but feels "slippery" at low speeds.
  • Best For: Long-range cruising and high-speed racing.

The Cavitation Danger: If a prop has too much pitch and spins too fast while the drone is stationary, the air "breaks" on the surface of the blade, creating vacuum bubbles. This causes a massive loss of thrust and can overheat the motors in seconds.
